I believe in transparency and integrity, especially when it comes to Generative AI. As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more common in day-to-day life, I want to be clear about how I use AI tools to assist my blogging process (and just as importantly how I do not use it).

My Commitment to Authenticity

As you will read in my articles, I view AI as a very helpful assistant, but not the pilot.

Every article you read here has been written and reviewed by me, ensuring my unique voice and point of view remain front and center. AI helps me write more efficiently, but it does not replace my editorial standards, creativity, or personal judgment.

How I Use AI

AI is an assistive technology that helps me work more efficiently and effectively. Here are the ways I incorporate AI into my workflow:

  • Research Support:
AI helps me quickly gather and summarise background information from reputable sources, making my research faster and more thorough.

  • Accessibility Improvements:
AI assists in ensuring my posts are accessible, for example by generating alt-text suggestions for images. I use AI-based tools to generate a summarisation of my writing, and suggest key insights to the reader, relevant to the content.

  • Editing and Proofreading:
I use AI-based tools to catch typos, suggest clearer phrasing, and check for grammar issues (a bit like a digital proofreader).

  • Idea Generation:
Occasionally, I use AI tools to brainstorm topic ideas, titles, or outlines, helping me explore fresh perspectives.

  • Image Generation:
Occasionally, I use AI tools to generate images - but only when other royalty free sources (e.g. Unsplash) dont’ quite have what I’m looking for - I always aim to support real artists and creators first and foremost.

What AI Does Not Do

Just as important is what I don’t do with AI:

  • No Fully AI-Generated Posts:
I do not publish articles that are written solely by AI without human review. Every post is researched, drafted, and carefully edited by me.

  • No Automated Fact-Checking:
While AI can suggest facts, I always cross-check important information with primary or reputable sources.

  • No AI-Driven Opinions:
The views and opinions in my posts are my own. AI may help refine the language, but the voice and perspective belong to me.
